Next Generation – Olga Danilovic

Three years ago, when I was covering the Serbia Open ATP tournament I ran in one of the most talented and ambitious player I have ever seen in that age. Her name is Olga Danilovic, born in 2001, and today only 12 years of age, it is sure that the future is ahead of her. I would go so far and predict her a top 10 ranking on the WTA World Ranking List if she continues playing tennis. Although that young Serbian girl only competes in the junior competitions (under 14) so far she shows more than just talent on the court. Her frenetic will to win and to fight as well as her mental power are just few of her skills.

The left hander from Belgrade receives full support of her family and friends. Nevertheless the daughter of Sasha Danilovic (Former Basketball Pro and President of Basketball Club Partizan Belgrade) has gotten all the sport genes from her family which helps her in developing her body. Which is one of the most important parts now because she is still going to grow a lot. Currently she is practicing with coach Ivan Petkovic as well as with other juniors in the Serbian Tennis Federation.

2013 was one of the most successful years in her young career, by winning 4 Under12 TennisEurope tournaments in singles, 2 doubles and further more, winning the American Tennis Cup in Florida (USA). The season conclusion is she won 25 out of 26 matches she played in the category under 12! Playing for Serbia in the HEAD Junior Nations Challenge was another highlight in this year.

On January 1st 2014, she was ranked on position 48 in the under 14th list from Tennis Europe. Though she shows quick that she wants to improve this ranking as soon as possible. Her first tournament was the U14 (Tennis Europe) Christmas Cup in Belgrade from January 6th until 11th. As number 2 seed she starts into the tournament but nobody was a real danger for Olga. As a result she beat number 5 seed Teodora Ristic 6-4 6-2 in the final and captured her first title in this season.

Sponsors like Yonex and Polyfibre discovered her talent as well and support her already for many years. We can look forward to see much more in the future from that talented young player!
